Oh, My.

I just looked at the last time this was updated- almost TWO months ago!! I really had intentions of regular updates and well, I guess it just got away from me. Much has happened since the last update-work went down by one doctor, we went to Pittsburgh & Ohio (which made me miss that area even more than I did already) and Obama got elected as President. Wow. I can't help but feel excited and hopeful about things for the first time in a long while. I'm a registered Republican, but I really feel that Obama was the best choice for our country. I don't feel I betrayed my Party. As a matter of fact, I plan on changing to Independent, only because I vote on who I think the best candidates are, not strictly within party lines.

But I digress. Really, I'm going to do a much better job at updating/blogging. Matt will be going back to working nights soon, and so, I'll have plenty of time.

Waitress.

This is probably one of the best movies I have seen in a long time, maybe ever. It's one of those independent flicks that is just all about character development-no gratuitous violence, no action packed car chases, just a sweet simple movie about a small town girl who is desperate to break away from her lonely life and her controlling, loveless marriage. It's absolutely brilliant. It's made even more bittersweet because it's writer and director Adrienne Shelly didn't live to see this movie come out, this labor of love that finally gave her the critical acclaim she so desired. It's not a long movie, but it's just a phenomenally written, amazingly acted film. If you haven't yet seen it, you are missing out.

I am in love with a vampire.

And his name is Edward Cullen. Oh.My.Goodness. I never would have thought I'd enjoy anything to do with vampires. It's normally not my thing. I'm talking about the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. I just finished Twilight, and have gotten started on New Moon. I heard a lot about this series from gals on Baby Names, and from friends who've read the book. So, I figured, why not? Yeah, I'm done for. I must admit, if Edward came a knockin', I can't say I wouldn't go with him. Not that I don't love my husband at all. But Edward is just so...perfect. I suppose that perfection would only be found in an immortal.

If you havent' read the books, I highly suggest you do. They are awesome!

Apparently I'm Back in High School

I'm 29 years old and apparently, my worst fears have come true & I'm reliving my high school days. Seriously, I don't get it. I know a bunch of girls who are sooo immature. They have their own clique and they literally have conversations amongst themselves while I'm around...you know, trading inside jokes, etc. I just want to smack them all. I know they're jealous, I have a life outside of this office, and a good one at that, and they don't. I have a great husband, wonderful friends and family that supports me. And I know I'm a little older than them, too, and have responsibilities that they don't have. But still. It's like they're my high school nemeses re-incarnated or something.

But I can't help but feel like it's high school all over again. I've been having dreams lately where I'm confronted with girls from HS that were just downright mean, and I know that if I ever ran in to one of them again, God forbid, I would just lose it.

So, like, OMG, these girls are driving me, like, totally crazy.

I'm a Name Freak.

I'm a name freak, and proud of it. I LOVE names. I am constantly coming up with combinations in my head, and every available piece of paper at home has some sort of name doodling. When a friend announces their pregnancy, my first question is "Do you have a name picked out?" Or if a celebrity announces a pregnancy/birth, I'm sitting there thinking "I cannot wait to hear the name!" LOL. Ever since I was little, I have loved names. I'm going to indulge my inner freak here and confess that for several Christmases when I was younger, one of my stocking gifts was the most updated Baby Name book available. I would sit for HOURS and read the book, and pick out names.

Currently, my tastes are leaning toward classic, timeless names. Our son is Jonathan William, which is a perfect name for him. My favorite girls combo right now is Lauren Julia, which will probably change next week. I can never seem to settle on a girls name. I also like names that are typically surnames as first names, like Carter, Sawyer and the like.

As for celebrities, thankfully there is The Celebrity Baby Blog and BN to help me get my fix. I check those sites several times a day, I of course have to stay up on the most current news around. What else would I do with my time?

So, yeah. I'm letting my freak flag fly and am proud to announce that I, Hilary Kustrin, am a certifiable name freak. :)

ETA: I only read the New York Times wedding announcements just to see what high society names their children. :)

This is for me.

We have our family blog, which you can see here. But I wanted one for myself, for my random thoughts, dreams, feelings, etc. A place that I can call my own and to make sense of this crazy little life I lead, you know, "this crazy, tragic, sometimes almost magic, awful beautiful life" to quote the country song. I hope you come a long for the ride.
